How do you first start

To start on garage games all we have to do is buy the game engine and find a team to create the game with.

Technically, GarageGames doesn't even require you to buy the Torque engine (or their other game engine). But it's probably the easiest way to start if you are going after really nice-looking 3D games. If you have already learned your chops, you may see if you can help out with some of the other teams.

At least, I suppose that's how it's supposed to work :) I'm kinda new here too... I'm something of an old hand at making commercial games (but not as old a hand as many folks here!), but I'm new to the indie scene.

I would suggest you tinker around with RealmWars.

Thats how I started ... then eventually bought a license. ;)

RealmWars is a Torque Game Engine community project. Its free and it works.

A better palce would have been the Getting Started forum. Try to check that out next time. That depends if you have bought the SDK or not though.

Probably 'Discussion' in the public torque area would have been best.
But, you seem to have foudn the info you want, so its all good :D

Also, you should get TribalIDE (i dont have a link.. do a google search). You use that to open/edit the .cs scripts that come with Realm Wars.

I would also recommend browsing over the Tork Zenkel site.

They have a snippit database and a download area for almost all the utilities you need to get a MOD going. ;)
