Good art Tutorials/Resources?

I'm a programmer and I am not very good at game art. Right now I am having a hard time with the platform art. Could you point out some good sites? Or some tutorials?

Ok, I'm doing an iTorque 2D game right now. I am having a hard time with textures for the ground. I would be cool to know some particle effects too.
