Hole in mountainside

Is there a way, in Torque 1.2, to cut a hole in a side of a mountain, so as to tuck a cave in there without loosing the mountain on top of it, and without blocking the inside of the cave with mountainside? If it cannot be done in ver. 1.2, could someone (Who knows more than I do) implement a plugin that could do this? I appreciate your response!...therry

I know that the 'clearterrain' tool in the terrain editor will make holes in the floor of the terrain, I use it all the time...however, it does not make a vertical hole (lets say a hole in the terrain where I can place a cave) on the side of a tall wall/mountain. If I place a structure in the side of a tall wall/mountain (Let's say halfway up the mountain), the terrain passes right through the structure blocking entrance. Right now, the only way I can enter the structure is by adjusting the terrain height to below the structure... this defeats my purpose of having the structure so high up the mountain wall. If Torque cannot do this at this time, Can a plugin be made to do this for Torque 1.2?....therry

Then it must be a factor of your terrain size and brushsize. I've cut holes in the sides of hills/mountains with no problem. I can see where it would be a problem if you didn't have enough vertices in the side of the mountain though. Try to avoid sheer walls whose vertices are only at the floor and the top. With careful sculpting of mountainsides that retain terrain detail and resolution I have no problem with accessing the cut areas. The only art foible is the necessity of filling the gaps around the hole.
