about math formulas used in games?

Do most game programmers use reference for the math formulas used in game development (or learn as they develop) rather than learn them off by heart?
Just curious as I tried to learn off by heart but found practical application is alot more useful in terms of retention...
Thanks in advance.

Yeah that sort of stuff. That's grand I am not alone in using a reference like wikipedia to get them. I thought I had to be a formula repository wizz or something. Just unnecessary stress on my part, better to ask than worry. Thanks for answering so quickly. Much appreciated.

Everyone uses a reference from time to time. Sometimes you will not use certain math formulas for a long time and need to dust off the reference.
