Seems the forums are desolate...

I can guarentee you that going the rude route will only get your a rude response back, or even have the people that can help you ignore you on purpose because you rubbed them the wrong way.

One thing that you need to remember here is that this is a community forum and as such no one is paid to sit around and answer questions. They choose to answer the questions provided that they have the time and the knowledge necessary to answer them.

Another item to remember is that if you post a question be as clear and consise as possible. Show some research or thought into your decisions or why something might be occuring. Provide a lot of information so that people can help provide appropriate answers without having to go and do all the BS themselves. All of this will help you ensure that people can/will answer your question if they can.

First of all, you should really avoid "rude" route - this dev community is intelligent and articulate enough to really hate such things as multiple postings, you will get attention but no love.

About the lethargic state of forums: I think that overall developers activity in forums has fallen, mainly because gamers forums have occupied it.

My advise: join IRC channel. Info about it is on your right hand in the box "community". It is fairly active and if you behave, pretty helpful.

About getting started, although I'm not a coder and cant give specific advises, look here if you havent already:

there's a lot more under Resources.

this is the most idiotic thing I have read in a while and guarantees that you will NOT get any questions answered ever.

Posting in the appropriate forums with clear and understandable questions in the subject will go a long way and demonstrating in the post that you have done something to try and figure out the problem will get more results, that is if it is something that is not well documented anywhere. If you can't put in the effort to ask a questions correctly most people will not spend the time to respond, that said.

Out of the 22 posts you have made, all but 2 have had multiple responses.

I agree with Nauris that the game player related forums make me much less active because of the overhead in sifting thru the cruft to find the threads that just might be relevant. The signal to noise ratio is getting high and you threating to make it worse is only going to get you negative responses.

I also find I have no problem in fielding the occasional question from people, but multiple questions tend to make me believe they haven't really given the docs/faqs/forums a good try. ;-)

...I have asked more than a few questions since registering and get good responses and courteous help...:) I try and try until sure I can't go on alone anymore, this after having done my research first...there is plenty of documents here to peruse.

Quote: what are the best chances of getting a reply within a day or two? ... I figure if I post something on Saturday, there would be an answer by the next Thursday.
none you have unrealistic expectations of a free resource . . .

And I don't think anyone misunderstands your threat of spamming the forums.

Welcome to the community, and learn some patience, you have unrealistic expectations.

By the time you seperate the people who know the answer to your question, who are willing to answer your question, and who have the time you have an increasingly smaller chance of getting a reply.

Torque is a huge engine. Odds are that not many of the active members are able to answer a specific question (they may be artists :-P )--and of those who can, likely have jobs or projects of their own to work on. The simple answer is be thankful that your other 20 questions were answered!

IRC is definitely your best route if you want a "quick" response. However, even there you will have to show a little patience. Popping in for 5 minutes won't get you anywhere.
