Elevators and triggers

by Paul Silva · in Game Design and Creative Issues · 09/10/2003 (2:31 pm) · 9 replies

How hard is it to setup triggers in torque. The game i want to make will have tons of triggers so its important. How ease for an example would it be to make a button to click to open a door? or to make a elevator go up and down.

Actually after reading other post this is the tight thread. THis is a game idea, but before im goign to mess with it i am wondering how this engine would handle such a concept.

    I'll tell ya..
    never was much for organization..
    >:)

there is currently no support for elevators.

you can script them and that would be easy.
but the collision for a dts object wont work.
    (friction and other lovely effects)

I have prepared a map2diff door that would do this but again more work n stuff....

so your sol for slapping this idea in ..
the trigger code is fairly solid and easy to configure some dynamic triggers but the elevator object is a no go.

At least this thread is game dev related
    not gameplay related

Thanks for your answer bad guy. yeah its nto the perfect subject, but i could not figure which one it really overall fit. im thinking of using 3dgs, but hate scripting in that and believe or nto the worse part is trying to get models imported in it.

So in other words a light switch and opening doors would be easy, but elevator you would have to mess with the c source?

    What the hell?

That's not even accidental. There's hours between the post times.

If you don't have the patience to wait for an answer, I can't begin to comprehend what makes you think you have the patience to develop a game.
