Buggy/Cheeta sink thru terrain - DUPLICATE
by Mike Rowley · in Torque 3D Professional · 06/18/2011 (6:27 pm) · 6 replies
Using the default template to make a new project, made a track. If the buggy or cheeta go up a steep slope then return to the ground, the car will sink thru the terrain.
An image speaks a thousand words:

There is a wall behind this buggy. I backed up the wall, then came back down just to sink.

RigidShape objects do this occasionally - I was able to fix this for the most part by increasing the collision tolerance and contact tolerance a little bit. Perhaps some adjusting can be done to the wheels....

Well it isn't the mass. lol. I've been playing around with it and other settings to get the cheeta to act more like a vehicle. I haven't touched the collicion tolerance yet tho. Thanks Richard. I'll see what I can do.

I've already reported this as a problem, so hopefully it will be fixed in the next update - with a possible fix (or hack) from John Henry (around #12).

Heh. Yes. Search is getting better, but still has a long way to go. I actually looked for that thread before posting this one, but couldn't find it. Thankyou for posting the link. I have it bookmarked now.

No worries - I couldn't find it either, so I had to go back through my old posts, also edited the post in case it was not showing up in the correct forum.

personally, I just think their collision on vehicles is still screwed up.
