Hi you comeback randy,did you understand the function parseargs() function?
#307
05/31/2011 (9:38 am)
the parseargs() function is a translator for pirate speak.. it parses the args and translates them to native.

Arg! matey! when put into the parseargs() returns Hi, friend!

likewise Arg, landlubber! translates to "Look at that troll!

Pirate speak is very hard to understand with out the parseargs() function

ok I post the function to you body:
function ParseArgs()
//------------------------------------------------------------------------
// handle the command line arguments
//
// this function is called from the common code
//
//------------------------------------------------------------------------
{
for($i = 1; $i < $Game::argc ; $i++) //loop thru all command line args
{
$currentarg = $Game::argv[$i]; // get current arg from the list
$nextArgument = $Game::argv[$i+1]; // get arg after the current one
$nextArgExists = $Game::argc-$i > 1;// if there *is* a next arg,note that
$logModeEnabled = false; // turn this off-let the args dictate
// if logging should be enabled.

switch$($currentarg)
{
case "-?": // the user wants command line help, so this cause the
$usageFlag = true; // Usage function to be run, instead of the game
$argumentFlag[$i] = true; // adjust the argument count

case "-h": // exactly the same as "-?"
$usageFlag = true;
$argumentFlag[$i] = true;
}
}
}

You must tell me the cncept argument of command_line first,because that is so difficult understand when work on windows,it's on windows
time

ok Frank, just for you, since you are a new guy, lets break this function down so even you can understand it.
For($i=1;$i<$Game::argc; $i++) is basicly what the comments say it loops through all the args.

Now the next 3 lines just gets all the args in the command.

for example

since its a command line arg its assumed the pirate captain is ordering his crew. for example ARG!, swab the poop deck! you scullywags arg!

so $currentarg be assigned the value of "Arg!" note the capital "Arg!" and the $nextArgument would be assigned "arg"

the swtich$($currentarg) is getting ready to translate what exactly the "Arg!" means.

as shown in case"-?" where its translating if the captain is confused

or case "-h": is the captain a hellvalot confused.

I hope that helps you to understand the parseargs() function

@Frank: this thread is lost -- too much confusion and skipping around of topics.

OK. Time to step in. Between Frank's refusal to answer questions and all the binary talk, this thread has lost value. I want to thank everyone who put forth a solid effort to help a newcomer out, despite the language barrier and identity doubts. This has been a shining example of patience and the GG community.

This thread is done.

Shut down by Mich. Bummer. I was sort of enjoying the binary code conversation.
