Is it possible to use Spline IK in MAX5 to animate bones and export the animation to .dsq?

When I link the root bone, with applied spline IK, to anything it rotates in a strange way.
I think it's a bug or the spline IK is not supposed to be used in this way?
Has anyone encountered this problem?

I don't think you should ever animate the Biped01 Root bone...could be wrong, I might be wrong, but that don't sound right...

I'm not talking about Biped.
I'm talking about max5 bones in general.
When I apply a Spline IK to a bone hierarchy, then I link that hierarchy to another bone. It rotates in a strange way so that the bones controled by Spline IK don't match the spline any more.
