"World PC Wrestling" looking for team
by Chris · in Jobs · 02/01/2011 (10:00 am) · 22 replies
Hey guys,
Probably just taking a shot in the dark here but I am looking for a team of coders/programmers...etc (whoever wants to contribute) interested in helping me work on a free open source wrestling game. Right now the game is using the Blitz3D engine but I plan on changing it over to the Torque engine! It is a free game so I make no money off it. I just need some help. The work would be paid if I needed things done specifically. Otherwise if you feel you can volunteer something positive to the project please feel free to do so. The game shall be entitled "World PC Wrestling" (subject to change). Here is what I need for a team:
Coders
Programmers
We could all work together.
Current assests I have are:
Wrestling ring/arena (Done)
Character models (Done)
Move animations
I am just a fan of wrestling games and would like to see a good wrestling game come out for the PC that can be modded easily and that is also fun for the fans.
I have plenty of ideas and am open to other ideas. Together we could make this a great free game with team effort.
P.S. I know I come on here with nothing to show but that is what I have right now nothing but ideas. But if you are interested in this, please contact me. I prepared to pay you each a small salary. Like I said I don`t expect anyone to work for free. My position would be game creator/director. We could all get together on Skype or whatever and collaberate. Thanks guys for looking!

yeh ive been doing mocap and poking around hoping to make something along those lines (yes there will be ninjas ;P)
i would imagine many of the challenges would be similar in setting up a good melee fighting system so perhaps i could help out as its something i hope to add eventually.

How come nobody's ever looking for an audio designer or scripter? sounds like a fun project. ^_^

I haven`t been on the forum here in awhile. Been away on personal business anyhow I appreciate all of the replies and I have replies for all of you.
@Eric Ossai Chidu: Sounds good, I will be in contact with you.
@Kory James: justacooldudeuknow28@yahoo.com. Thank you for your interest. :)
@x_ming_x: Mocap is really convenient isn`t it? Many other awesome things too. I appreciate your interest. :)
@Joel RA Ford: That is a very interesting question, I have been thinking about this one recently and I can say that I heavily agree an audio designer and scripter are both 2 very underated positions in game creation/programming. I mean awesome sounds and music tracks REALLY can have a very impactful presence in a game, like a wrestling game.
Stay tuned guys because for everyone that is interested I will be creating a Facebook wrestling game page. How would you guys feel about that if Facebook is not your cup of tea we can create a group from another site. What do you guys think about that? Thank you all! :)

However, posting here recruiting a team does not violate the EULA. In fact, you didn't even state that you wanted to use Torque to build your game.

He is inferring that you have no Torque licenses. In order to start development you would need to purchase one, obviously. However, posting here recruiting a team does not violate the EULA. In fact, you didn't even state that you wanted to use Torque to build your game.

Any game programmers interested in helping?

@Chris, If you could name a rough idea what game engine(if using) or type of programming language you could be using would help.
#13
Not quite sure of the programming language yet. What programming language do you prefer Matthew? Just out of curiousity?
Thank you for the interest. I will keep everyone updated.

@Matthew: I was thinking of converting the Blitz3D engine of a current free open source wrestling game and converting it over to Torque. Not quite sure of the programming language yet. What programming language do you prefer Matthew? Just out of curiousity?

@Chris don't quote me but I think Blitz 3D is a language called "Blitz BASIC", my languages are C++,C#,C and some more but I use them less nowadays.
#15
Thanks for sharing your languages. They would be a big asset anywhere they are called for... hopefully somewhere on this project as well. ;)

@Matthew: Yes Matthew I believe that you are correct! Thanks for sharing your languages. They would be a big asset anywhere they are called for... hopefully somewhere on this project as well. ;)

Hey guys,
Working on creating a Facebook page for the game by this weekend it should be up.
Right now here are my current plans:
1. Conversion to Torque.
2. Also would like a better physics program, programmed into the game, an example right now in which the physics are programmed you can break tables but you cannot put/throw wrestlers onto tables and peform moves to your opponent and put him through tables with manuevers. I would like to have a decent physics program implemeted so wrestlers can climb/stand on the table and so that tables can be stacked on-top of each other, (4 stacked table max).
3. Programming the game in Torque so it can be setup for multi-players using both the joypad controller and keyboard ( up to 4 players support).
4. Future match types and programming for additional areas for wrestling moves/interactions. (More specifics once we are on this project type).
Special notes:
Right now I am in talks with a programmer who is willing to convert the game to the Torque engine.
The body models for the game are biped and are also compatible with the FBX format. Right now I am also trying to convert some endorphin wrestling move animations so they can work with the game. Does anyone have any experience here in converting endorphin animations for use with 3ds max and FBX? It would help out alot.
Thanks,
Chris

I see your wrestling game is very early in development, but when you do get to the point of looking for sfx and music, let's talk. I'm at www.ccbeats.net and www.soundcloud.com/carlclarkmusicproductions. You seem to be quite a wrestling enthusiast and I'm sure you're will be great fun to play... when it's finally developed!
