Any info on the Lugh3D engine?

I'm sending this question to the community since many people here are familiar with several types of engines that are available and it seems that some of and I believe that the people resleasing the engine are subscribers to this site. Their home page is http://www.merconconsulting.com but it hasn't changed much for some time. If nothing else then utilize this thread as an FYI to another engine.

The screenshots they've posted don't look very impressive; given the lack of visible community, and the sparseness of the site, I think I'd steer clear of giving them money, especially since it looks like they're selling you a win32 only component.

It depends on what you're doing, but, well, Torque is a good choice (though a bit steep on the learning curve)... if you're looking for something you can experiment with more readily, with less time investment (I don't know what you skill level is), you might try DarkBasic or another RAD game development kit.

I dont think torque has a steep learning curve at all! I mean it's huge, and it takes rather a long time to learn all of the stuff it can do, but it's the best thing Ive ever seen for getting started immediately with game dev. The ingame editor is a real milestone in game engines, I think we'll start to see a lot more of that sort of thing ( Doom3 comes to mind ).

And the greatest feature of Torque that will help newcomers : these forums. If only they were fully searchable *wisfull sigh*...

Paul you obiviously have not tried to extend the core engine at all. Playing around modding scripts and using the mission builder are far from what Ben is refering to.

I say ~395,000+ lines of C++ code regardless of what it does is a steep learning curve.
