Game Controllers

Hello,
Being an FPS (first person shooter) gamer I have been using keyboard + mouse and it works well.
I've read people recommend that a player get a game controller that has two sticks on it.
Will that help my gameplay dramatically? Would the aim control be as precise as the mouse?
I was looking at this one in particular:

Whaaat? you mean I spent TWENTY WHOLE SECONDS re-rendering my avatar out at a different res and it won't show up? MAN! what I coulda DONE with those 20 seconds!!!!

For now i will still settle for my 76 million :)
But maybe using that control method [dpad/mouse] i could beat you. :P

lots of room for improvement on the 156 million (honest) i'm just waiting for 1 of you guys to beat it before i invest another 4+ hours trying to beat it myself :)
ive posted lots of times now on 3 forums!! d-pad movement and mouse for aiming is UNBEATABLE! but I think i'm the only one using that method !!! :)

Oh and Alien Flux is a very nice game taking its inspiration from defender mainly and is well worth a trywww.puppygames.net

The latest patch allows you to move and shoot in a similar vein to MS. Personally I preferred it with the thrust to dodge dynamic :)

Haven't tested it myself, as I CANNOT get over the idiocy of putting notches in the controller base so that the sticks have an artificial 8-way lock. I'm the kind to push the stick to the farthest edge when playing MS, so that kind of this is rather important.
and hey...is my avatar showing up? cause I don't see ANY for anyone else, nor my own.
