Professional Mini-Golf Game Idea?

by Ryan Zec · in Game Design and Creative Issues · 08/16/2003 (7:31 pm) · 6 replies

From what I see I think toruqe would be a great game engine to make a Mini-Golf game. Here is my basic idea:

There will be a league of Professional Mini-Golf players called PMGL (Professional Mini-Golf League). You will start off as a rookie and you will move up in rank by playing in tournaments and Head-to-Head Matches. Head-toHead match can only be played with certain players depending on your ranks. You will also win money which will be used to buy new and better balls, clubs, and money to enter tournaments. When i play get to a new course he will be able to play in it in training mode.

That is the basic idea for that game and i would like some feedback on it if you have time.

Thank You.
Ryan Zec.

I suppose torgue would be nice for any golfing game due to the terrain capabilities that are already there. However, playing golf is just a tad different to running around with guns. If you wanted to add golfing to it, I'm guessing this would take quite extensive code modifications. You would need to add a way to handle how the player sets up, and takes swings (which could be pretty complex), some golf-ball physics, and a scoring system.

If you want feedback on the actual game idea, then it might be an idea to post a more detailed description of how the game would work.

It's not that I want particular details for anything, it's just that you didn't post much information to give feedback on, that was all.

I just wanted a feedback on the general idea and maybe some idea that i could use in this type of game.

The general idea is fine. It sounds like some of the items implemented in most of the already exisiting computer golf games.

I think what William was trying to say was that more information would be needed for feedback on whether or not your particular idea for a game is any good.

Your description describes ... well...golf.

I like golf. Golf is a good game. Golf is fun, many people like it. I suppose then that the idea is good?

For more ideas. maybe go play some mini golf?

I've just started a mini-golf game today. I know it's not the most original thing in the world, but as you say it's a fun project, hopefully with a decent potential marker, and something I can do fairly quickly to get my feet wet.

I've only got one artist sorta lined up at the moment though so it could be a while before theres a demo ready.
