I just changed my Graphics card from a geforce 2 MX to a Radeon 9700 Pro and my game runs even worse. Do I need to recomplile the engine?
Any advice welcome.

I'll try and find out what version they are using for you.

A couple of people on my team have had issues with ATI cards. Often trying a slightly older set of drivers can help (as strange as that may sound!)I'll try and find out what version they are using for you.

I've had a word with one of the guys on my team and he has the same ATI card as you.
He tells me that he is using third party drivers from here.
I've never used them myself and can't promise they will fix your problems but he tells me they are the most stable drivers he's found for gaming with his ATI card.
Hope this helps you out,
-Greg.

Athlon 2500+, 1GB OC System PC3200 in Dual Channel, etc.
A friend has the same card running the same 9700 Pro drivers with no problems except in really old flight sims that don't have completely standard graphics api calls.

Only problem in torque is the little glitching in the UI, that seems to have something to do with cursor masking or something like that..

Yeah, I have a 9500 Pro here, powered by ATI build by Sapphire, but using ATI's catalyst rather than Sapphire's drivers. using 3.5, getting ready to try 3.6 again (they messed up the OpenGL color depth in torque the first time I installed them : it was stuck in 16 bit)Only problem in torque is the little glitching in the UI, that seems to have something to do with cursor masking or something like that..
