Tribes 2... again

by Rob Smith · in Torque Game Engine · 07/30/2003 (11:17 am) · 1 replies

Basically here's the deal. I'm investigating purchasing the torque engine but want to do a little research. Low and behold i happen to have in my possesion a copy of tribes 2. I'm trying to experiment with the scripting to see what the engine is capable of, but I'm having a hard time tracking down any sort of documentation. Like description of data blocks and parameters to functions.

I'm trying to build a "Total Conversion" of sorts and just throw all the tribes 2 script away. But I need more information about the functions and where to start... I've been poking at it and making progress but it's going quite slowly.

Also, assuming i do make a "Total Conversion" then i buy torque. How easy would it be to port over? Hopefully someone can clear this confusion. Thanks.

There are some differences between the Tribes 2 engine and Torque as Torque has been added to and improved for the last 3 years (after having some stuff taken out) I assume that a 'total conversion' would take some editing to get to work with Torque.

You can download Realm Wars for free and script away at that instead of Tribes 2 if you wanted, depending on which community you want support from.

planettribes.com will help you with modding tribes (I think)

this community here will help you with modding Realm Wars.

Hope that helps
