Tutorial for Particle Effects unclear? Need help!

I'm going through the Particles tutorial here:

and I thought I installed the extra assests properly, but I'm not able to find the long list of particle effects in the field section of the particle graph editor. For example, the "Size X Life" selection isn't there, and that's the one the tutorial wants me to use. Any ideas as to why this isn't showing up?

Make sure you're editing the emitter's graph and not the effect's. The graph's are very similar but have some different variables. That section of the particle tutorial specifies to edit the emitter's graph.

Same thing happened to me before as well.
