http://www.blender3d.org is a good spot for artists. www.blender.org is more the programming side of Blender.

From the release notes:
Quote:- Expect in the period after 2.28 a lot of interesting import/export modules.
Hm... what could this mean? *wink*

I haven't tried it because Blender scares the crap out of me, but there seems to be an ExportDTS.py file in a blender dir on the HEAD version...

does this do what it promises to do?

ExportDTS.py doesn't do anything... I believe that particular implementation has been aborted?

I am very keen on high quality DTS export from Blender, with automatic LOD generation/convex hulls/stripping. I am maximizing the effort, opening many content creation doors with one swoop. I really can't say much more, or when.

I can't seem to hold interest in it.

Blender dts exporter would be cool....especially if someone made another pda port of it, particularly for the zaurus ;)

Blender .dts export is the "Last, Best hope" for those wishing to do content creation on MacOSX...

Wow.. blender seems REALLY GOOD. Never heard of it till now. Do you think a Max user like me would find it more easier to model with blender? Go ahead and convince me to download blender..

Hey - I'm trying to make a decision about whether to work with Blender or Milkshape 3d, and looking for recommendations.

Obviously I'm on a low budget, but I'm planning to build realistic objects (not cartoons) for a game. Has anyone done a comparison of the two?

Milkshape is a decent low polygon modeler/animator... The reason it is so popular is that it has decent import/export for games like Halflife, Unreal, Q3, etc. The DTS exporter for Milkshape doesn't do everything the 3DSMAX one does...

Blender is hands down a more powerful tool... anyone who argues otherwise is probably on some kind of bashing trip. There is currently no way to export any kind of DTS from Blender...

I have done some Blender tutorials and it is pretty intuitive. It is much less feature rich than it's expensive and distant cousins (MAX/Maya). Though, people can and do get good results with it...
