Car models in game

Hello everyone, sorry if this question has been asked before, as you can see am a NooB :)
The question is, can I safely use ((Without licenses or written permissions from car manufacturers)) car models in my game that represent real cars if I take off the logos and change the names of the cars?
Thanks a lot.

Thats a good idea, I was thinking of something like using custom paint jobs, not the original ones used.
"Granted, if a company like GM/Ford/Chrysler wanted to kill your project, they could probably do so for any reason they wish.... unless you're insanely rich."
I'm not insanely rich, however I don't think my project will get insanely large and popular around the world either(at least not yet :)), so I'm going to go for it.
Thanks for the input.

The worst they can do is tell you "No" which you already expect.

You can always try and contact someone at GM/Ford/Chrysler (whoever happens to own the car models that yours tend to look at) and see if they mind. They may not, free advertising in a way. At least then you know for sure. The worst they can do is tell you "No" which you already expect.
