Realm Wars WWDC Build Available

by Logan Foster · in General Discussion · 06/21/2003 (8:38 pm) · 29 replies

The PC version of the build we have entitled WWDC is now available for everyone to download. Please note that the Linux and Mac versions are being comipled by the necessary parties and will become available when they are ready.

What's new?
- Improved Hand to Hand Animations
- Improved Hand to Hand Code
- Motion Trails on Hand to Hand weapons
- A very cool new CTF map that everyone will definately enjoy
- New ingame UI
- Misc. bug fixes and other issues.

Please let us know what you think of the game. Areas we could improve upon, things to change or fix, possible bugs, etc.. We intend to use this feedback to quickly turn around and release another build that will address these concerns.

Enjoy

Logan

PS: Thanks goes out to the great guys at Maxgaming Online for being some excellent hosts for the build (and also hosting the IRC servers). If any dev teams need a reliable (and excellent) hosting solution, talk to these guys.

The Mac Build
While playing has the problem with connecting to servers, the sky bug, seen above in an earlier post, and still the sword playing the reload sound for the crossbow when used.

The in-game build freezes when you try to pull up the texture editor

What...? No Linux version out yet?
Blah! Time for me to grab the files from CVS and build it myself I guess. :D

Geez... RealmWars needs a major code cleanup because gcc just dumps out a lot of warnings
and one error when it was a case typo with "Math/mMath.h" should have been "math/mMath.h"
of game/fx/motion.cc.

Well after getting it to compile successfully, it segfaults right when it resets my screen
resolution to whatever it is configured for then it drops out to desktop in the terminal with
Segmentation fault. I'll look into the problem sometime tomorrow. I need sleep.

There have been a few problems with the Mac build, we apoligize for this. We do hope to get a new build (1200) going soon and appreciate all the help that you are giving us.

The WWDC build was strictly OSX -- not sure why you'd have problems running. You'd have to give some info on your machine. Also, make sure that the build is running on a MacOS extended partition (just in case).

When i and my friends start a multiplayer game, we got some bugs.

1. i can open only with the map port of anything
2. they get after some time a access violation and crash to desktop
3. they crash to desktop without any error msg

Have the MacOS X version (1101). Works fine (with above noted bugs) in single player mode. But crashes consistently when trying to join server. I have a dual 500 G4, 756 MB ram, ISDN connection to the net -- anything else you need to know?

I've posted the crash log here:
