Torque X Development Roadmap: Release 3.2.1 - Any update?
by Matt Simpson · in Torque X 2D · 03/12/2010 (12:03 pm) · 11 replies
According to John's blog post ( http://www.torquepowered.com/community/blogs/view/18955 ) there was due to be a 3.2.1 release for Torque X in January 2010.
Just wondered if there was an update on this from anyone?

Would they not need to wait for XNA 3.2 to be released?

No, the update has nothing to do with the XNA version. As far as I am aware there will be no XNA 3.2, it's going to 4.0.

I'd like some info from Kalanakis as well. Maybe they are rethinking the roadmap seeing as how XNA is moving into the mobile space with WP7.

Then you start delaying your news because "it is probably going to be done next week". Then next week arrives, and you still need another week, and so on. Then you delayed it so much that now you don't know what to annouce...
...Oh, wait... That is me with my scrolling shooter project... And T2D, I guess...

I suppose the TX development team is suffering from the "Last 1%". They probably implemented 99% of the features but the 1% remaining was much bigger than anticipated. Then you start delaying your news because "it is probably going to be done next week". I'm working with Eric Preisz to re-define the development roadmap and timetable for Torque X. I don't want to steal any of his thunder since he's about to address the glorious future of Torque X - but it is exciting. Meanwhile, the past few weeks have been spent on those pesky details that affect so many around deployment, permissions, and certificates... unless I can get unanimous agreement and promises that nobody will use Windows 7. John, any word on whether the roadmap will eventually address memory usage concerns? Mainly, minimizing garbage collections.

I've been away from my project and Torque X for a while now. I really want to get back into it but I don't know where to start. I'm hoping the next update will be a good point.haha funny you mentioned Windows 7, John... this engine is the only reason I kept Vista!
