Newie looking to try TGE

Hi all

I'm new to the GG scene and have not yet purchased the Torque SDK. Why not? Because I would like to try it out in some way before I spend $100

I've looked at other engines and this is the first that doesn't appear to offer a 'try before you buy' option. I've been reading all the docs and posts I can about TGE and it sounds like what I'm looking for but I always like to try stuff out before I buy it (as I've squandered money on things in the past and wished I hadn't!)

I think I read on a post somewhere that I could download one of the demo games (Realm Wars I think) and press F11 and then I could have a play with some of the tools. I tried to download it but the site says it's no longer available due to bandwidth issues

Specifically, I want to see how good the toolset is and how easily I can use off the shelf models, textures etc in TGE. In addition I want to get a general feel for the language and what the starting point is for developing a new game (ie, what do you get in a brand new project)

Any comments, help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Mark G : I may have an older rev of RW on my dev box at home. I'll look and see. If so, and if the powers that be have no objections, I can email it to you.

Expect a response around 6 Central. ;-)
