Great Game, $ seems high

by Blashy · in General Game Discussion · 06/04/2003 (11:29 am) · 13 replies

I would love to purchase this game but 20$... It just seem way to high for this type of a game.

At the most you see games like these are usually 10$ no?

A 7mb game 20$, a 500+mb (years in dev) 40$.

How difficult is it to part with another $10? If the game 'looks great', why are you unwilling to pay the money?

Btw: Critters team, the game looks very good.

John.

To quote blashy from his/her other post regarding Tennis Critters:

Quote:I can't beleive this but I'm actually going to spend the 20$ for this game... ADDICTED! WRRRAAAAA!

I've been playing the demo over and over since it came out.

Ironic eh?

I just dont think you're going to find anything like it for less money. I think it is quite a work and well worth 20 dollars. Especially if you are a real tennis fan. Maybe I am wrong but last time I checked, a movie with a date costs about 30 dollars when you throw in a pop and some popcorn. That's an hour and a half of entertainment. With a gem such a tennis critters, there is no limit to the number of hours you can have fun. Perhaps you'd like to buy your kids a first person shooter for 60 dollars and let them blow each others virtual heads off all night. My humble opinion. Robert.

ummm ..
games that are years in dev. are not usually 40 are they?
here they are usually $80-100 (canadian)

but after they are not new they go down to about $40-60

but this game is lots of fun, and very original.

$20 is cheap for the amount of time spent making it.

where else can you play doubles with your buddies?
upto 4 players!!
I havent tried the net play ..
but where can you play internet tennis?
I do not think you can.

Plus this game is so cheerfull, you need to get into a bad mood.. and Then play it
and you will get the full heart warming effect it has to offer :)

Plus you dont have to be a gamer to play it. my wife loves it.

all around this game is easily worth $20

I'm not familiar with low budget games. So I was just making an observation / asking a question.

I think the family nature of all of the great games here is the most telling. Every single one of them has a powerful family pull. Marble Blast is very fun and captivating, and all family members can enjoy it -- but only one at a time; strictly a solo experience.

Orbz you can enjoy solo -- but it really takes a good multiplayer session to shine, so the family members can have a blast playing other people online. (Same with Thinktanks).

Tennis Critters you can enjoy with other people that are in the same room as you.

Very, very cool, guys.

I, too, am very impressed with the virtually non-violent approach to video games. It has been my mindset to always make less-violent games. Mind you, I'm not against violent games in general, I just think there's an overpopulation of violent games. The whole family-oriented nature of all of these games is quite refreshing.

Badguy, in the US, major games (Unreal 2, Quake 3) are $40 to $50 when brand new. They eventually make it down to $20 bucks.

Just wondering how many have played Virtua Tennis. It costs $10 in stores...where you can still find it. A very different take on tennis than this one of course, but for those who haven't played it, I suggest it. It is always good to get perspective of what is available in the genre...I'm sure there are other Tennis games out there as well, but I thought of Virtua due to price and the depth of play, which is simply amazing.

Would love to play a network game, will put up a post asking for that...a time that is...
