Missing engine documentation?

Hi,

I just bought Torque3D and am looking forward to getting into it but I seem unable to find any kind of information on the engine functions that are exported from the c++ core to TorqueScript.

I am a programmer by trade so although I can see a lot of value in the various editors etc I am keen to dive in at the code level and see just what is required to start up a game environment from scratch in this system.

I am not able to afford the source release so for the time being I have the binary only one.

I have looked through the documentation folder in my Torque install directory and while there are folders for what looks like engine documentation they are all empty except for a single image file.

Without documentation for the various engine types and functions this engine will be effectively useless to me (how does one write game logic without knowing the commands?) so I seriously hope that either (1) something went wrong on the install and the docs didn't get extracted properly (2) There is some script documentation on the website somewhere that I have not yet looked.

Any ideas??

Thanks

EvilNoodle

Go to Support->Documentation and select the Torque3D section. The online docs will always be the most up to date version.

The TorqueScript and Engine Reference .chm files were corrupted, and are being updated soon. These will contain a lot of the information you are looking for, in a format you will be familiar with as a programmer.

That's very good news. As a programmer I appreciate reluctance to give timescales for this kind of thing but I wonder if I could ask when I might be able to get my hands on the new docs?

I'm in the final stages of polishing the 1.1 docs, but I do not have a solid date to give out. Soon is the best I can say.

I don't need a solid date but I would like to know if we are talking this month, next month - 3 months from now?

If we are talking significant timescales that is a big problem for me but I can afford to wait a couple of weeks.

Less than a month

Thanks for that.
