Im a new to Torque, and this is my first post !
I have this huge project in mind, but to start out easy and get to know the engine I decided that i wanted to make somthing simpel, but still in the direction of my big project, and A Scorched Earth in 3D would be just that...

Where do I start out.. do I have to make som changes to the engine itself, or would scripting be just fine ?? I have the Example thing running, and are fiddeling around with it at the moment, Its a bit hard, but I get along.
There is so many Ttorial, but with my limited knowledge, I cant figure out which ones are relevant for me !

I have limited experience in C++, but im learning, im good with LightWave 3D (3D grapich is my primary skill !) I hope somone will be able to help me with where to start. Anyways thank you for taking the time to read my post :)

Hello.

Compared to other guys here in the forum ... I'm relatively new. I got the engine last year and I'm still a n00b.

This last few months, I've been working on my own game called Tabukan but a few days back, I've just got an idea for a small fun free game. Since you're an SDK owner ... I am willing to share the source code with you.

If you interested ... click on my profile and email me. :D

Well if your skill is LightWave then I would sujest you get the .dts exporter for lightwave so you can put your creations in the game. Also. if you wan't to make building I would sujest you download worldcraft. Here are the links:

Lightwave 3D .DTS Exporter: http://www.gnometech.com/products.shtml

WorldCraft: http://www.valve-erc.com/files/?file=/files/hammer_v34.exe

Tutorial Getting WorldCraft Configured: http://www.garagegames.com/docs/torque.sdk/tools/worldcraft/index.html

Hope these help you!

Well Alex, its not that im not interested in getting into projects, problem is that I have already made arangement with a programmer about the Scorch 3D project...So sorry about that :( We have started before on the "Big project" but gave up on it as making the engine from scrach was a big task, and when its only done in sparetime it would take decades. Now i invested in Torque, and its seems to get gooing.. :D

/* "Offtopic, no offence !"
Im not really that much into 3D shooters (Im a strategy man), I have seen to many the last few years, and it seems to me that they are all copies of each other, nothing new... Hitman and Max Payne had small amount of new thinking, but thats about it.. Sadly its the same all over the industry (Also RTS), very few new ideas... */

Thanks for the links Jeff, they really helped... :)

Im still looking for some dukumentation about using the Torque as a RTS engine... ?? Has it been done before, and by who ?? I found a place on theese forums where a guys said that making Torque into RTS would take 30 % Programming and 70 % scripting.. !! But thats about what i have found on making RTS in Torque.. Can that be true.. ??

No offense taken.

The offer was a kneejerk reaction since I just got an idea for a fun childrens games (ages 6 to 11) which involves a lot of cartoony farm animals and a coconut. Of course I would be using Torque and I'm starting "again" from scratch. Im willing to share code cause I'm thinking of releasing the game for free on linux. :D

About the RTS thing ... a few months back, I guy asked if he can make a C&C game using Torque. You should follow this link to get more info on it.

Good luck on your game!
