Is the Reaction Engine powerfull enough to create something like

A group of firends and I are working on a multiplayer action game, similar to Thinx tanks. We have some preliminary models done (thats my job) and design docs, but were still evaluation our options for an engine. We dont have time nor the skill to build a 3d engine from the ground. We have approx. 6 months to create a game for a local lan cafe. We are looking into the Torque Engine, but I was wondering if the Reaction Engine was powerfull enought to support multiplayer like Thinx tanks type of game. Anyone made anything promising so far? Monster Garage, what do you think??

Tyler,

as of now the reaction engine does not have network or multiplayer support...however it has a very active community which is planning to add a lot of enhancements to the engine... so it would depend on if you want to wait for it....

Anyways i think Chris Cole is a better person to answer your query...

Tyler,

As Saurav mentioned the Reaction Engine does not yet support a network layer. It also does not yet have a terrain system like the TGE. Both features are in development now. However, it may be several months before they become available.

That said the RE SDK is very easy to learn. It is great for quickly getting single player prototype running.

Hope this helps.
