Demos of my musical creation ...
by Jiri Kafka · in Game Design and Creative Issues · 05/18/2003 (3:28 pm) · 63 replies
I've just realized that the name of the topic "My music example" is gramatically very poor (and you didnt give me even the smallest notice >P), so I've created new thread with proper and actualized name ...
To link this new thread to the old one, I removed the last reply here:
----------------------------------------------------------------------
As I stated in another thread, I've stopped to produce new songs and started research oriented on which instruments sounds good together etc. - the goal is to find out how to create rich and orchestral sounding music.
In case you are interested, here is the first, cagey example of that research:
vault.bonusweb.cz/Miser/research_1.mp3
instruments used: violins, viola, cello, bassoon, oboe and french horn
/*-/*-/*-/*-/*-/*-/*-/*-/*-/*-/*-/-
any comments and ideas welcome!

Just showed it to my art dept.
Everyone likes it.
we need to possibly purchase some sounds.
mostly sound effects, but a couple "Jingles"
are no doubt in order.

we are making some Gambling games.
they follow some themes.
example:
one them is a water theme "under the sea"
another is "in the jungle"
so we have a couple ambient sounds playing.
and then we have some other sounds for effect.
heh demo stages of the product, so nothing is final and I dont know how we feel about all our sounds. we dont own em yet.

aha, ok ... well, if you will need some music in the future, I've got nothing better to do :)

This means you've pirated the samples? If so, please let developers know that you are in no way legit so that they know the risks they take when hiring you.

The clarinet sounds nice, try adding a double bass, cut down the reverb on the clarinet and make it more like a large room reverb, and a little bit of a muted drum set and make some nice lounge jazz :)

Double bass, as in upright bass (JAzz Bass). A bassoon is a wind instrument. Bass is string instrument.

The drums sound fine but sometimes they feel a little choppy and off the beat.
Heh I wish I had some synths like this so it wouldnt sound like I'm talking out my arse, but alas being a poor college student inhibits that.

Something about that trumpet sounds really odd..like they're playing with their teeth closed and getting a honky sound. The drums sound fine but sometimes they feel a little choppy and off the beat.

Hey Jiri just listened to the slave hymn. I would say that after stating a melody or going through one phrase of everyone in unison to split the choral parts at least into more 4 part SATB format just to get some more texture to it. But I like that it does start in unison.
