Idea: Feature Request donation pot

Hey everyone,

I think this one is more interesting for non c++ coders. :) However I thought about how to enhance this website or what kind of feature would be helpful and cool. As I always find something I would like to have in my game, but it would need some C++ coding and I'm unable to do this I thought about a Feature Request Donation Pot. I will just explain the system in steps as I have it in my mind:

  1. Somebody requests a feature including description. He can instantly donate some money to this feature request.
  2. Other guys can add them self to the request-list and also donate some money
  3. Some C++ guy looks at the request and maybe knows how to achieve it or maybe has already a solution. Now he could provide the solution and get the money that got donated.

In this case everybody would be happy. :) All the guys that requested the feature would get what they requested and a coder can be happy about the money.

What do you think? Of course its just a basic writeup and my english is really bad. But I hope you understood the basic thought behind it.

Tell me what you think :)

Best Regards,
Chris

Problems with the system: How does everyone "agree" that the code works and does what they want?

What if I donate $2 and someone else donates $200. Do I get to veto or have any say in how effective the code solution appears?

Who gets to release the bounty? If it's the person who starts the bounty, then they could easily raise money for a popular feature, then give themselves the bounty without ever doing a bit of coding and just stealing people's money.

If it's GG controlled, I'd rather they spend the time and money DOCUMENTING what's in the engine currently instead of evaluating new code.

Currently, there's nothing stopping you from starting a bounty in the "jobs" section of the site and getting someone to code something for you.
