While Focused Published Game Or World Editor Has Low FPS or No FPS At All

Okay so I threw down some stuff in the desert level, clouds couple rocks , a road, and a river. It rubs fine in the editor but when I goto actually play the game it freezes unless I alt tab to something else. then it is like it would run with no problem but immediatly after I focus back on to it, the game freezes again.

You should post PC specs, framerates (open console and type metrics(fps)), and things like view distance, etc. Helps others understand what's up. Hope that helps.

This time I can move around a bit. very choppy though. And all the graphic settings are off. I am not sure how to control the view distance yet as I am still messing with learning T3D

It seems this is sporadic, cause now I can't use the mission editor as it is doing what the published game was. At first I thought it was my vid drivers but I updated them

Try switching from Advanced Lighting to Basic and see if that makes a difference.

I tried that, didn't help any.

Switched visibility distance down to 5 and it still does the same thing. I really would like to get this sorted out as I am wishing to purchase, but I don't want to purchase if it is going to not run.

OK situation update, I did a reboot and it appears that fixed it. I am not sure why it was doing it but if it does it again I will start hunting it down. T3D just got another customer

OK so I am putting this here for others. It seems there is some software that may be running in the background that will cause this to freeze up like it is doing. The freezing started happening again I rebooted and all was fine.

Not sure if you're talking about the same thing. But I've noticed that when you exit out of T3D it keeps an instance of it running in the background that never closes. I had something like 23 instances of it running earlier in the background.

Hmmm, yes I will need to check that next time, thanks for the heads up.

If the game crashes then the instance will stay in the background. Also an important thing to note for when you're looking at the task manager is that T3D.exe is the toolbox and not the game.

Scott,
For me atleast, whether I crash the engine or not, click the x in the top right, or exit out properly I still have instances running. And these are indeed FPSExample or whatever other example I open, in addition to the T3D.exe

I did a complete format and reinstalled XP and it works like a charm even with advanced lighting. No more problems. Only thing I can think of is there was something running in the background.
