im just curious, does anyone else developing on a netbook?
im getting ~15 frames per second in the fps starter but im on linux running tge natively(not through WINE)
im just wondering if people with a windows netbook are getting the same results or even people with other linux distros.
heres my specs (i bet you a buck you cant guess them lol)
1.6 intel atom
2 g ram
4 g ssd (slow but ive run the fps demo from usb key, usb hd, and sd flash with the same results)
intel integrated 945 gfx
i know the gfx card is a dog as is the cpu im just wondering if the windows drivers help?
thanks

I was using a little HP 2133 (2GB RAM, 1.2GHz) but it ran TGE atrociously (I'm assuming it was the GPU, whatever it was, that let me down).

with netbooks being what they are these days GG should make a netbook version of tge.
lol they all have about the same specs id be like optimizing a console version.

Sure, it's possible, but if you are going to use a portable computer for development, use one that has at least 2 Ghz and 2 cores. I don't know why you would want to use anything less powerful. I don't have anything against netbooks, but I would think you should get a laptop instead of a netbook.

Your not suppose to develop on a netbook, that is not what they are made for.Sure, it's possible, but if you are going to use a portable computer for development, use one that has at least 2 Ghz and 2 cores. well a netbook may not be made for development...but if you develop a game on it and it runs just fine then any regular laptop would be able to play it like clockwork, at least that's how i see it. and besides netbooks are gaining popularity, they shouldn't be left out :)

Target has a netbook on Black Friday for $157. I'm not as concerned abut the price as I am the size.
It's a 10" Acer
Windows 7 Starter
250GB
Intel Atom processor
Obviously I don't expect this to run like a dream, but if I can at least get TGE1.5.2 to run at 10-12 FPS with minimal graphics (placeholders only), then it would be a major coup. Small enough to drop it in my labcoat pocket, but large enough to run Torque?
Any opinions?

Can you take a USB drive with TGE on it to the store? Try it out first. Have the TGE preconfigured to show FPS while running so you can evaluate diff models. If the store won't let you do it, go somewhere else. You should be able to test out the device.
