This will then be tossed to Jay and distributed as he sees fit.
if their are any specific (with in reason) questions you would like asked or a particular feature of RE reviewed please let me know.

What are the main differences between Reaction and Torque?
#6
Best of all, the documentation is complete and well laid out...
the whole thing makes instant sense, and should be quite easy to pick up.
If Torque was organized this way.... weeeeeeee
A few questions...
networking... any?
particle effects... any?
macintosh version... when?
I know that the Reaction Engine isn't designed to be up there with the 'high end' engines, but I just thought I'd ask :)
Again... Great Job!!!

It is hard to compare the two engines, it would be like trying to compare apples and oranges.
here are some key differences that are obvious to me:
1) Torque is a AAA engine while the RE SDK is not.
2) Torque has a proven track record (Tribes 2 anyone?), while the RE SDK is just now picking up a head of steam
3) Torque is feature rich (multi platform, OGL support, Particles, Networking, Terrain etc..)
4) RE was designed with the novice in mind, ease of use and comprehension was one of the main goals for RE.
5) RE is well documented/commented and comes with 6 examples that will take you from the basics of the SDK to the more indepth features. TGE lacks this type of docuementation/support
I am sure I missed a bunch of other _major_ differences
In the end it comes down to what you are looking to-do. If you have the time and knowledge to get up to speed with TGE and your project requires all the futures that TGE has offer then use it. If you are one who is looking to make their first game or have little game creation knowlege or your project does not warrent the extra stuff a AAA engine provides then use RE.
@Michael Hense
networking - No (Would be great to have, not high on the pri list (atleast as far as I know))
PE - No (been talking about it, might be making a patch for it...)
Mac - No (Chris mentioned a couple beta testers are working on a port)
Linux - No (Chris mentioned a couple beta testers are working on a port)

Sorry about not getting here sooner. I've been checking the forum's links regularly but this is the first time the link worked. When did it go up?
Anyhow, as many people know, my computer died on Saturday and I'm frantically trying to get my dev environment back up. I can't seem to get WinXP to recognize my Win98SE machines on the LAN. Anybody know what I'm doing wrong? I need static IP addresses to host the FTP from home so it's not quite as simple as it sounds.
Back the RE, I'm glad to hear there's excitement for the SDK.
There's been serious demand for the Mac and Linux versions. I'm sure I'll release an initial patch of the RE SDK to fix any bugs you guys find, but these ports are the next highest on my priority list.
As Ron pointed out, there is no network support. I don't think there will be any support for this for quite some time. If RE takes off I'll come back to this but until then, if you need networking you'll want to go with the TGE.
There is no PE, but I could easily support this, though right now it's low on the priorities.
One other major difference between RE and TGE is the licensing... RE basically doesn't have one... aside from you can't just willy-nilly copy the SDK on all your friends computers.
As you go through the SDK and demo if you think of suggestions by all means drop me a line.

I certainly will sometime over the next few months.
In the meantime, I would be interested in seeing your reactions (sorry!) and opinions on the SDK.
