Graveyard of dead projects

by DME · in General Discussion · 05/08/2003 (3:19 pm) · 256 replies

I was wondering what happens to people once they do a bunch of work for a project and then it dies.. Do the people just take their work and go to another project?

Reason I ask is because I'm currently working on level design using worldcraft. It has come to my attention that there has to be billions of levels already out there that no one ever uses.

If I take a completed level add my own textures and change it to suit my game is that copy write infrigment. Cause I started with a level then edited it?
If it is does anyone have levels kickin around that they are not using?

Still showing the same error, Matthew. I restarted Firebird just to make sure.
function validate()
	{
		if (document.createform.pass_login.value != createform.pass_login_conf.value)

Okay, despite my best efforts I *think* I have it fixed =P

Let me know if anyone else has problems.

The submitting process is long, but not your fault on that. I got all my files spared on my HDD :)

Still about 30 models to upload... I will do that from time to time.

BTW, is your code able to receive new graphics for the interface?
It's quite professional, but a bit sad. Maybe we could try to work on that...

New graphics are quite easy to add...just send them to me =)

Has anyone done anything new? It's like the website of dead projects is becoming dead itself! Course, I guess there are sites like GameBeavers now...

Well, Matt could make only a base. Its other users who can help it getting further along the road.

I simply do not have the time to promote this site the way it should be...especially with game beavers competing. If anyone is interested I can give them all of the code for this site (some nicely laid out php with a mysql backend) and they can run with it. I'll even sell you the domain name for cheap.

I really liked the concept and I enjoyed going through all of my old stuff pulling out useful things. It forced me to organize and clean a few of them up a little.

So yes, Digital Boneyard does indeed appear to be going the route of of dead projects =P

I would be interested in seeing and playing with the code as a learning experience, and helping out if you are still interested.

Now also open for everyone here: www.digitalboneyard.net

Before anyone panics or starts flaming:

Christian contacted me about taking over Digital Boneyard on his own domain so I sent him the code. It is now the official "Digital Boneyard" and I wish him well on it =)

Has digitalboneyard.net itself become a graveyard?
it looks like game beavers has picked up with this idea...

Nice play on words to bring up an interesting old post but relevant. OK, I'll put in a shameless plug for Britton and the gang: Game Beavers is a working example of this idea. If you have "graveyard" work which could be useful, why not contribute?

Ive a couple random lowpoly building models, no skins though...I certainly don't care if others use em. Heck, if they skin them, Id be interested in seeing what they do with it.

@Travis Lerol

I'm sure GameBeavers would be interested :)
