Graveyard of dead projects

by DME · in General Discussion · 05/08/2003 (3:19 pm) · 256 replies

I was wondering what happens to people once they do a bunch of work for a project and then it dies.. Do the people just take their work and go to another project?

Reason I ask is because I'm currently working on level design using worldcraft. It has come to my attention that there has to be billions of levels already out there that no one ever uses.

If I take a completed level add my own textures and change it to suit my game is that copy write infrigment. Cause I started with a level then edited it?
If it is does anyone have levels kickin around that they are not using?

Thats weird... it's working for me and I tested it on several other pcs, also some friends tested it... always worked. What os and browser do you have?

Just a note: The download page reloads after you have pushed the button and than the download will start... I will add a text to wait for the download and change the site a bit. Maybe that's the problem

@ Christian

I can help you out with the PHP scripts.. I have firefox to test on as well. Let me know if you're interested.

I could also be an admin for the db, it's MySQL right?

@Thomas

I'm interested, it seems like there are many problems with firefox... I can do the mysql part, no need for help there.

Please email me (christian@ghostgames.net) or add me in icq(282-360-124).

Thanks.

I was wondering if a wanted section would be useful...

you could ask for stuff and then if someone posts something which matches via keywords or something, you get an email..

Or people could check it to see if something they want has been added..

At the moment, I want some building models in 3DS or Milkshape format to turn into DTS shapes. I'll end up making them myself but if someone's got some nice models they've already made and have no problems legally donating them.. that would be a nice thing to add to the site, especially with the increasing number of RTS kit owners around... what would C&C be without buildings?..

You never know, if there's a wanted section, some kind soul might take it upon themselves to create the art specifically for the site.

I tried to download something and it asked me to register. I'm using the latest Firefox if that helps.

digitalboneyard.net

It's set up right now so that you need an account to download and/or submit content, which makes sense.

Um... there's like nothing there! It might take a while to grow to a good size. It's a cool idea though.

It'll grow with support from the community. If people post, it'll grow.

If you've got any old models, textures, or whatever lying around and you don't mind allowing others to use them, up load them.

Just make sure you're legally allowed to submit them, i.e. They belong to you and only you control their destiny.
