1) you can use it forever and ever and ever and ever and.. well you get the picture
2) it is available via CVS checkout and a .zip download
3) well you would need some kind of graphical program to create the 2D images for the HUD etc, other than that VS 6 with SP 5 and MilkShape should do yah OK.

1) No time limit... see licensing for further details.

2) Torque is available through a CVS server, through which you can grab any version, from 1.1 stable through the currnet HEad at any time, technically. You can also order a CD, but hey, why not just burn a backup and be done with it? ;)

3)Milkshape is supported with an exporeter that directly exports your model to Torque's format. VC++ 6.0 is supported, so it sounds like a good 2D graphics editor and you'll have a solid start. Also pick up Tribal IDE (Torque/ Tribes scripting app) for free.

Summary: No other engine in this price range even comes close to Torque. Spend the $100, you won't be dissapointed! (C: Cheers!

-oops... Ron beat be by a few secs. =/ ;)

Depends on the money you want to spend. I find that for $100 (magic number it seems) Paint Shop Pro from JASC software is excellent.

You should be good. Check out the demo app and mess around with that to get a better idea about file formats and such. If you buy Torque, you need to somehow compile it, with a compiler. GCC is free. GCC is good. GCC can be intimidating to use.

I suggest (again) checking out the demo app to make sure you know what you're diving in to.

Ughh I don't like Paint Shop Pro... go with the GIMP, it's free and quite full featured - not to mention open source! :)

Thank you Alex:) But those are only the games that were made by the Torque Game Engine. There is no way of downloading a trial version of the Torque Game Engine? If not, thats ok. I'll end up getting the engine anyways, lol:) Well thanks to everyone!! Have a good day.......peace!!

John, the link he provided is to a trial version, the "games" listed are mirror download sites in case one server is unavailable for some reason.

What you will get with the "trial version" (if you can really call it that) is a demo application that you can essentially MOD. If you want to see the source code, you'll have to pony up the cash. =/

No, the GIMP will work just fine in place of photoshop if you don't feel like forking over a load of cash for photoshop.

At the risk of too much self promotion: John you can also win a Torque license and save yourself $100.

Although you would have to wait a month for the results...
