Free Speech Allowed?

Posted this below..it got deleted.
So did the previous posters blog on the same topic.
Is there something wrong with providing info on other Engine availability?

Unreal 3 Engine - Free for Dev

Go here:

www.udk.com

.. license terms for this arrangement are US $99 (Ninety Nine US Dollars) up-front, and a 0% royalty on you or your company's first $5,000 (US) in UDK related revenue, and a 25% royalty on UDK related revenue above $5,000 (US).

Read, Download, Try out, Compare
Read fine print again!

Quick, before this blog is deleted!

First, I would like to say I'm disappointed that GG would remove the original post (from someone else) from earlier today.
As with all game engine offerings, there should be open discussion allowed.
Presenting options is good, unless there's a feeling that T3D isn't competitive enough.
If so, make it competitive enough : )

Second, T3D has much more to offer from a platform variation perspective, with XBox, iPhone, Mac, PC etc., so it's got very good ground there over other offerings, even over this UnReal deal.

But..Perhaps the T3D licensing structure should be reviewed again, in light of many new engine offerings, with comparable features (if not platforms..)

Enough ranting...check it out..compare...it's not like this will sway commited T3D people anyway.

no there is nothing wrong about posting on another engine availability its just not for blogs thats what forums are for. i rather like them deleting them all there is no need for that on the front page people go to the forums to do that.

Unity don't have blogs so they don't have that problem but they do have forums and yet i see it on there forums not blogs.

Was looking for a thread here in the GG forums where folks may be talking about the news ... let's face it, it's big news.

Are posts being deleted?

Still looking forward to seeing what folks here have to say about it.

Refer to UnReal Dev Kit' thread.
Posted this and noticed other similar thread, use that one from now.

Everyone already knows about it and are posting in the forums, which is where the information belongs. The front page blogs are for people to share their development projects, etc. and not for general news items such as Adobe launches new 3dS Max, etc.

We are not stifling free speech here, just keeping our site focused the way it was intended.

There are also so many threads on it. Wasn't one enough? ;)

Garage Games pays the server fees for the message board and the website, so what do you expect? The idea of free speech is kind of ludicrous.

With the whole move towards the unified Torque concept it doesn't surprise me to see it deleted. Especially when they allow posts like www.garagegames.com/community/resources/view/18533 to remain.
I think garagegames will be focusing more on us using their technology as they shift focus from garagegames to torquepowered.

I do find it completely reasonable removing posts
about other engines in a GG forum, as I find
reasonable for other engine forums to remove
posts about Torgue Engines from their site.

Really cant see whats wrong with that.
Its easy for those who are interested in "engine XXX"
to go to their website to get informed.

I'm perfectly satisfied that only Torque matters are
discussed in a GG forum.

I have licensed an other engine also, but to get informed
about that one I go to their forum. Nothing remarkable about that.

I think There are better places to discuss and compare
features and prices of engines (gamedev.net as an example)
than to do it in the forums of respective game engine.

This is my personal view. I may be wrong but
at least that what I think.
