Bruised Knee.

Hey guys. You might remember a long long time ago there was a game idea for a stickman fps. It generated alot of interest at the time but as far as i know it never saw the light idea.
Since then i have been interested in the possibilities of stickmen using torque.
What i think would make an excellent game would be a Third person stickman fighting / gun game.
It would essentially play out like maxpayne. Only would use hand to hand combat mixed with guns.
The difference would be that everything here would be about style. Being able to jump up and grab a light fixture hanging from the cieling with one hand whilst shooting bad guys with the other.
Being able to roll over a table and kicking a guy in the head on the other side.
To make it more stylized and match the stickman theme i would propose making much of the game in black and white and using the following technique to give it a sketched look (This is taken from NPR quake but should be easily transferable).

The actualy game view would probably play similar to the old crusader:no remorse style view. Only it would be 3d and much more close in view. Worlds would have lots of destroyable stuff to give that more action look.
Im curious what everyones idea on such a game is.
Now to anyone who has ever seen the xaio xaio flash movies this seems all very familar and of course thats one of the ideas that inspired me to think that a game like this would be cool.
Weapons could be modern day or more wacky such as guns which erase there opponents e.t.c
So far the working title ive come up with Is Bruised Knee (to anyone who has no clue what im talking about think 'Bruce Lee')
:D

puzzles would be cool.
I imagine being in a level whacking out badguys with a HUGEEEE 3d pencil scrolling around the map like a cyclone. Get hit by it and BAM.
Maybe even random Erazor sightings eheheh.
Possibilities are endless.

I especially like the black and white touch.
It is nice to see someoone playing with something other than toon shading.

Wasn't there a game called something like "Pencil Whipped" or similar, that was presented on the IGF two or three years back? It had this kind of idea... Don't know what's become of that project, though...

But it was hard on the eyes in play and the controls sucked,
so it isn't surprising it went nowhere.

Ian, from what I remember, Alice was 100% puzzle free. It was fun and it was gorgeous, but what puzzles are refering to?

I like the idea a lot, and I like the black and white Quake shot above.Ian, from what I remember, Alice was 100% puzzle free. It was fun and it was gorgeous, but what puzzles are refering to?

Puzzles would be the last thing to add in. Its all about stylised action.

I didn't realize there were two Ian's posting to the same thread... sorry, Ian Roach, I was replying to Ian Wheat's suggestion to add puzzles ala Alice. However, now that you mention it, stylised action, in and of itself, doesn't make a very compelling game. Not one for which I would want to pay 40 bucks or play more than 20 minutes. If a game doesn't have depth then it can be the most inovative "looking" game ever... it's still dull. That's just my two cents.

I agree stylished action is boring in itself but mixed in with interesting enough gameplay you could easily have a winner.
One game i see as unique and very fun is ICO
Awesome game.

You could do a lot of "puzzles", like in American McGee's Alice, to make it more interesting.
