FYI: Segmentation fault (OrbzDemo)

Note: Foobilliards also segfaults, so this information is provided FYI if anyone is curious. I'll fix my system and post again if there are any Orbz-specific notes.

This is a follow on to the "Unable to initialize OpenGL" thread. Since the error message has changed (and is probably not related to the last one), I'm posting this message seperately.

From ~/OrbzDemo, here's what I see;

$ ./orbzdemo
Segmentation fault

orbzdemo.bin reports the same. The output is being emailed to John Quigley just to clog his inbox. :-O

Except for the following, the system (software, software config, and hardware) are the same as before;

* nosysinfo option was removed from the kernel boot line
* System was reset (to apply change)
* On boot, started kernel in runlevel 1
* Installed Nvidia's 4363 drivers (current release; posted on April 24) and switched to runlevel 5

Steps taken to eliminate the segmentation fault and to enable game play;

* Backed up and wiped out system
* Installed RHL 9 from scratch (not an upgrade)

At this stage, Orbz demo would run, though slowly (no Nvidia binaries).

* Installed current Nvidia binary
* Updated /etc/X11/XF86config
* Rebooted

At this stage, running Orbz demo would cause a segmentation fault.

* Ran up2date, updated all packages including kernel, rebooted in runlevel 1
* Re-installed current Nvidia binary
* Switched to runlevel 5

Orbz demo now runs as it should. Good game.

Zounds! Hopefully yours is not a typical install experience. Glad you got it working though :)
