Quark bug(?): Can't select objects in iso view

Hey all,
I'm trying to follow the tutorial about face sharing . I built an object similar to the one in the tutorial, with 3 blocks butted up against each other.
The problem comes when I try to turn the scene around with the compass-type controller. When I have the view arranged into an isometric perspective, I suddenly can't select the objects. Or I can maybe select only one. The boxes I can't select become grayed out. If I switch to a straight-on view, the boxes are black again and I can select them.
It seems like this problem has popped up other times, even in front/side/top views. I figured I had just button-mashed the wrong key combo, but now I'm not so sure.
For the most part, however, I'm really enjoying the program. Once I got through a few tutorials, I found it amazingly easy to use.
Anyway, any suggestions on the problem?

I've been learning a lot of new programs lately, and I haven't been able to shake this gnawing feeling of dread. And I think I've figured out the source of the feeling is. It's that with new software you never know when you're going to get bogged down by some out-of-left-field quirk you've never encountered in any other software anywhere. This wasn't that bad, but I just know the uber-quirk is out there somewhere. Waiting.
Still like the program, though :)

That didn't make sense, but QuArK does. Well, more than it did a few days ago.

Ah, now I'm seeing the usefulness of this arrangement (what I thought at first was a bug). You can set up the display to hide objects not visible in both views. Then you can use the fact that an object isn't visible in one veiw as a way to take the clutter out of the other view. So for example I'm building a tower, and I find that if I make the upper viewport of QuArK (side view) very short, and then zoom in on the tower, I can eliminate the upper and lower sections of the tower from the lower viewport (top down view). That didn't make sense, but QuArK does. Well, more than it did a few days ago.

it is easier to organize your brushes logically in folders and then toggle their visibility in the folder tree (right click for options to grey out or hide current selection). This comes in very handy on larger maps. Also you can disable folders and their contents from exporting out to map2dif which can be useful too. I highly recommend organizing your brushes as you build as the folder tree can get out of hand quickly.

Thanks for the tip, Patrick! I'd been using the folders out of habit from other programs, but hadn't noticed the hide/gray out function. -Spencer

I think the view thing is more annoying than anything. I try to get a rythme going with quark like I do with MAX and Qrk always seems to stop the flow one way or the other.

You can do alot of things like assighn colors to particular groups(folders), Hide in textured veiw(handy for portals), stop the geometry from exporting(great when using templates). I think there are more but those three I use alot.I think the view thing is more annoying than anything. I try to get a rythme going with quark like I do with MAX and Qrk always seems to stop the flow one way or the other.
