Ever love an old game so much....

... that you would look into trying to build a sequel?
Despite the fact that you could never hope to land a proper liscence to use the story material (and thus, never get paid... or worse)
Some old friends keep moaning about a long past mech game and its lack of updates.
Ive got half a mind to try and do something about it, but the other half says the first half has lost its sanity :p
Bleh, Im just rambling now.
Anyone got opinions?

Just for the heck of it, I'm gonna jump on this bandwagon with my own esoteric list of games I'd love to see sequels or remakes of:
Master of Orion 3 (Not the butchered crap that Rantz guy tossed out, but a real successor to MOO2)
Alien Legacy (Sure, it was simplistic base-design, but the story and clue hunting kept me going back time and again, not to mention the almost super-science tech tree)
Operation Overkill II (An old BBS doorgame of post-apocalyptic wasteland survival and competition! I'd give my right kidney to see this game live again!)
Outpost 2 (Something about the colony building, population management, and tech research made this game FUN for me. Plus the idea of pre-fab construction kits for buildings is just such a cool concept for a game)
Battlezone (An FPS-like game with elements of RTS? Rock on!)
X-Com (More bandwagon, and wish to whatever Game Design Gods that listen that X-Com Alliance hadn't been canned)
System Shock 2 (Creepy, fun, and open ended gameplay! What more could you want? I still get chills recalling SHODAN's erratic voices)
Well, that's all I can scoop off the top of my brain at 1am. I *know* there's more old games out there I would love to see a face-lift on.
Incidentally, I personally know the person who owns the rights to Operation Overkill II. If anyone remembers that door game fondly, and has a harebrained idea about doing a project... Hit me up and I'll put ya in contact with the author. Heheh

Wow! This thread has been revived for over three years! Goes to show that 'remakes' are a popular topic.Just for the heck of it, I'm gonna jump on this bandwagon with my own esoteric list of games I'd love to see sequels or remakes of:

A new River City Ransom might be nice; I already mentioned a new Rampart Xbox 360 Arcade sequel would be perfect for 4 player.I like SEGA, so I would like to see a new: Shinning the Holy Ark, Shinning Force 4, Dragon Force, and watch

I'd also go for a Crash Bandicoot game, and a good Spyro the Dragon [the recent ones, though I haven't played, don't look so hot] Dino Crisis would be a fun one, too

If I could 'magically' get the rights and materials to make a sequel for any game? I'd make a Sonic game that didn't suck bawls like all the recent ones. I'd also go for a Crash Bandicoot game, and a good Spyro the Dragon [the recent ones, though I haven't played, don't look so hot] Dino Crisis would be a fun one, too
