TGEA out of the box not working "solved" :)

Hi,

So I decided to purchase TGEA and downloaded the TorqueGameEngineAdvancedSDK-Win-1-8-1.exe file.
Installed it but all the TGEA 1.8.1 SDK icon does is to open the folder with the installation.

There is no exe file to run TGEA!?!
Do I have to compile the whole damn thing before I can start to work with scripting?!?

I did search the forums and someone pointed out that I need to run a demo to get into the dev environment.
I ran the SetupNewProject.exe but it refuses to create a project somewhere else than in its default setting (I'm running Vista x64 in Admin mode).

So I figured that if I copy the template project I could get started, but is ther no way to get a "Clean" new project without the "demo" like start?

What is the supposed workflow here?

As usual, the documentation is of no use :(

There is a utility to generate projects. Once you have generated a project, you can compile it. Simple and easy. Read the docs....

Please take a look again at the documentation.. it is by no means useless and contains answers to each question you have asked here. There are precompiled demos in the TGEA subfolders, as well as batch files needed to generate new projects.

@Richard
I mentioned that:

Unfortunately this didn't generate any project at all if I changed the file paths.

@ Kenneth
I was referring to quickly start scripting, not recompiling...

Anyway, I have already figured out that I have to copy my generated project to my desired location manually (because otherwise there will not be any project generated).

I have also figured out that the generated project must actually be started in "play" mode to get access to the mission editor (not mentioned in documentation I have found so far).

However, I'm reading the "The Game Programmer's Guide to Torque" so I will probably figure out the flow soon enough.

I was just a bit disappointed that it wasn't as easy to get started as for TGB. Even if 300$ is very cheap for a game engine I would have expected more information to quickly get started with scripting.

Thank you for your time and "help" :)
