Sports games

There are some unique ideas for games on this site, but most are still of an action/shooter variety. Where are the sports games? Is the Torque engine not suitable for this? I'm not suggesting that anyone should try to compete with EA, but there must be a place in the independent community for some sports games. Besides, EA produces the only real sports games for the PC. Why not throw a little competition their way.
