Example Tutorials

I know you all like to keep the private forum private, and for a good reason too.
But to all the people out there, me inlcuded, who are broke studends waiting to pay their university upcoming university funds who only have the Torque3D demo and can't currently afford the full version.
I've heard there is a tutorials section in the private forums, yes?
Is there by any chance, somebody (maybe a forum mod or garagegames employee) could give us demo users a taste of a few tutorials.
I know there is a documentation, but as there is in torque game builder docs online (I think it was that one), there is many tutorials that if I recall, cover a full example game!
Even, as i posted in another thread, a simple ball controlling game would be awesome, even just the controls.
Not only for use in the demo, but I think releasing some nice small (or large, which ever) tutorials into the wild along with the current demo will attract some more people, especially indie developers as they could get onboard straight away trying out a practical example for themselves without using a complicated full gamepack that is included (like the phsyx level etc.)
Thanks for your time!

I thought people were saying there was a tutorial section in the private part.
Anyway, thanks :)

Might be a bit more information of lessons learned from the Betas, but there isn't any more documentation there beyond that. Perhaps GG should have some kind of program to reward something for people that write tutorials/documentations. Not trying to put you out of a job Michael, but I know it is a hefty task and one that never ends.

I would seriously, gladly, 100% free do some in depth video tutorials, if I knew how to use it.
I've tought quite a few of my friends the in and outs of C#, GUI building, Flash, 3D modelling and some basic CPP.
But I'm still [very] new to torque, I generally learn by example, then remember what I seen that person did and go back over what they did, impliment it myself and customize it so I have a full understanding of what happened :D

Would be a good thing for some of the educational partners/customers that use Torque to get involved in I am sure. Need a lot more soft level documentation on how to use a lot of the tools and "tips and tricks". Hard to gather a lot of the hardcore stuff and the search is an excellent tool for that, but a lot of howto videos and perhaps indepth "create a basic game" tutorials would go a long way. The T3D engine is rather new though so there hasn't been much from the community in this regards either.

I "do" have the money for a license. but I'm not going to buy one until I can prove to myself that I can actually create even simple games in the amount of spare time I have. So I need to learn torque first, then decide. Problem is there isn't enough resources that I can find to teach me.

There are several blogs buried in the deep abyss where Lara Engebretson made some really great video tutorials. I wish she would make some more using the tools in Torque 3D.

Yeah, this is what I was saying.
It would be a real treat to have simple game tutorials to get beginner and indie (that are new to the engine) developers going.
I'm pretty sure this would encourage quite a lot of people to buy the full engine.
I mean, supply some nice good quality textures, models, simple tutorial on reflection and maybe a preset level with lighting and you have a sweet bangin' game!
I'd say that's enough to entice even the newest people (like myself).

I would point out that when you install the Tools Demo it does add a shortcut to the online docs to your Start Menu. There is also a Documentation tab in the Toolbox (with links to the video tutorials =).

You can access the Torque 3D Docs here. This link will be added to the Support->Documentation page later today or Monday.I would point out that when you install the Tools Demo it does add a shortcut to the online docs to your Start Menu. I currently own the 1.5.2 and would love to upgrade to t3d. However I agree that some tuts would be a great way of convincing me.
