Operational differences: TGE vs T2

Thanks to some very helpful individuals in the 3d art forums, I have narrowed my problem in successfully exporting a player model into a Tribes2 mod to one of two likely problems- either a consistent error on my part or some difference between current TGE and T2 that prevents the "run", "back" and "side" animations to play when needed... the others- "jump", "land", etc all run properly, and all do show correctly in DTSview, the T2 version of showtool.
I'm hoping for the firdt, but is there anyone who knows of anything that might lend credence to the second?
