Can't change design camera to landscape

I'm trying T2D for iPhone beta and also TGB 1.2.2 for iPhone.
When I create a new project, I can't get the design camera rectangle to look like a landscape app. I got one project to work correctly, but then had a different problem with images not showing up in the simulator. So I created a new project to test a suggestion from another member. None of these new projects will allow me to set the camera size.
Honestly, I'm having so many problems with Torque in general that I think I have wasted a lot of money. The included docs are sparse, the forums are full or workarounds and known issues which are not collected into the docs as an FAQ. Total disservice, IMO.
Here is what I'm doing:
I have a Mac, I open 1.2.2 and choose Create a new project
Edit->Preferences
Scene editor says 480, 320 (I assume this is Width first, then Height, but there is no label).
iPhone Options, screen orientation landscape
Apply
OK
No camera change. The camera is still in Portrait.
Click the camera tool button on the toolbar.
I can only scale the camera as a Portrait orientation.
What?!
I have deleted and unzipped 1.2.2 several times.
The same thing is happening for me when I run the T2D for iPhone beta.
When I created my first project (the original source of trouble) the camera orientation worked fine. Something about my environment seems to have changed; of course I'm only guessing.
Does anyone have any ideas on what I might check?

then its set from the itgb end.
