Openplay

I am curious about what the v12 programmers think about Openplay, "...a network abstraction layer designed to simplify the task of creating programs which communicate across multiple computers."

With the v12 already posed to be easily ported to various platforms with its support of OpenGl/OpenAl, it seems logical to also support an open api for networking as well.

Aye definately not useful at the moment, however, abstraction in general allows applications to take advantage of improvements of low level systems as the years go by. For example, Quake2 got quite a speed boost 2 years after development with hardware transform with no application code changes. In this case it should easily provide support for the new IPv6 http://www.ipv6.org/ instead of having to later code support for it, as in Quake1 www.viagenie.qc.ca/en/ipv6/quake/ipv6-quake.shtml

Haven't looked at it. I'll check it out though, could be interesting.
