T3D's private forums, and how helpful they are?

One MAJOR benefit, especially for an artist, is an engines forums. I'm working with Unity and their forums aren't private, and everyone is very friendly and extremely helpful. You can usually get a reply the same day, and most don't mind sharing code or at least helping you get in the right direction.

I'd like to ask the community of people who actually own a product of Garage Games; how do you feel about these forums? I know people tend to get biased, but I would appreciate open and honest thoughts since I can't experience them for myself.

Also, are there quite a few members who own Torque 3D and who post on their? I know the engine is relatively new, so I'm debating on whether I should wait a bit or get on board now.

Thanks!

The T3D private forums are probably the most active forum at the moment, and everyone tends to be for the most part extremely helpful, especially for newer folks who are not as familier with the T3D framework. Hope that helps!, Take a look around the TGE and TGEA forums which are open and will give you a good feel as to how this community operates, the private forums tend to have a similar tempo.

As a fairly new entrant into the Torque world (my team and I were previously Multiverse participants) I have to say the folks in the T3D forum are extremely helpful.
They are patient with the repeated 'noob' questions and even though I'm from the land downunder and +10UTC someone always seems to be around and shooting off ideas and answers.

I had an issue with some of my DTS models for example and the discussion/feedback to help resolve the problem was fantastic. The community threw out ideas, we bounced a few things about and eventually Chris Robertson (who wrote the code I was having trouble with) took my files and fiddled with it until the issue was resolved.

I use the "Show unread" on an hourly basis and there is rarely less than 5 new posts/replies. Of course it is more active since the release.

All in all it gets my big thumbs up!

I get 3-4 times as many new posts to read through (that I am actually interested in!) since getting T3D. Lots of useful posts all the time.
