TGEA - FSAA + Glow

by Mike Kuklinski · in Torque Game Engine Advanced · 09/28/2009 (1:40 am) · 4 replies

I've known of this bug since TSE, and am surprised it hasn't been fixed...

How can we go about making the glowbuffer play nice with FSAA? TGEA is far more obfuscated than TSE was from what I can tell so I have problems deciphering what it's actually doing.

TGEA is now officially (and perhaps finally) dead. The window resizing bug with glow hasn't been fixed (but it looks like you've worked around it, gj) but checking the code it's still there so I wouldn't count on seeing any bug fixes released with the latest news going on.

I just can't bring myself to buy T3D though---even if it's discounted because I was a TGEA licensee, I was a TSE EA licensee also; I've waited for years for basic bugfixes to be made, both to the renderer and to the variety of other systems including Audio and Physics --- how am I expected to use their stock physics system when it crashes my game every other collision? Replacing these systems will entail as much work as writing my own engine.

I just can't warrant spending another $600 on a license, especially with their ongoing track record - my $600 will just disappear possibly?

I agree. I waited almost 5 years for TGEA(TSE) to get where it is now. I'll admit TGEA 1.8.1 is a lot better than previous editions, but it still has lots of bugs. Why should I spend the money for T3D and wait 5 more years for it? Guess I'll just wait for C4 to mature to a usable product, at least I already have a license. I'll just keep plugging away with TGEA until then.

I've found the ExtrudedPolyList to be quite stable, but maybe it's not complex enough for you. We used it for arcadish ships in one game.

It's not impossible to replace GFX with OGRE. That's what we were doing a few weeks ago. Their art-path is just a little bit different. And it's not something you do in a few days. But I don't regret it.
