River object - LowLODDistance causing river to dissapear

by David McDonald · in Torque 3D Professional · 09/11/2009 (4:25 am) · 10 replies

- Placed a river via the river editor
- When zooming in to fiddle with the details the segment close to the camera vanishes completely (In editor and in game)
- Changing the LowLODDistance from the default of 50 to 1 corrects the problem (Until I get to 1 unit away).
- Cannot see higher detail of the river to adjust flow etc.

This randomly started happening to me the other day. However once I reach about 100 or 200 meters away I can see it perfectly fine. It seems that between the 100/200 and 1 meter, it's invisible for me.

I Think there is a draw distance option when your in the editor of the river, i think its River draw distance, and set that from like 40 to 200.

Not Sure Though...

As a slightly related issue here.
With our rivers placed and running down a slope we see no current as in the cherry blossom demo and the river editor tutorial.

Is this a configuration/settings issue that I am just too blind to see or have I forgotten to enable a feature etc.

That is controlled by the ripple/wave fields ( same as for other WaterObjects ). The speed of the river waves/ripples is constant throughout the river, it is not aware of its own 'slope'.

ok, I fiddled with those settings and it never seemed to "flow from the first point to the last point" as mentioned in the tutorial video.
If that is all there is to it then perhaps I didn't fiddle enough ;-)

Thanks.

edit: yup...just me....thanks.
