Grandma's Boy Moment :(

OK, this is hilarious!
I posted a little blog about Grandma's Boy ... which was a pretty stupid movie. It was stupid ... it was partially insulting ... and it was partially true. I never thought I'd see this happen but ... well it did.
During the movie, the resident 'Game Design God' (who walks around in a black trench coat with an aura of psuedo superiority about him) is testing his game. He's a bit frustrated because he's having a moment of 'designer's block'. His situation gets worse when suddenly his character's head falls off at random.
When I watched the movie ... I thought to myself ... stuff like that doesn't happen. I've seen some strange vertex twisting and deformation (my character's legs wrapped around his head in Aerial Antics) ... but heads don't just fall off. I thought wrong...
Ironically ... last night I witnessed this:

Sad but true.
So does this count as an official TSE bug report ;)
It seems that with two refractive Jills ... with glowing hair ... if the other Jill is in the view port of the player controlled Jill ... one or the other's body overwrites the opposing character's body. It seems that the glow buffer on the head keeps that portion of the mesh properly updated ... and when the character animation plays for the death sequence ... in some instances the head (and I'm guess the bones behind the body mesh) fall appropriately but the mesh in the refractive shader stays up (and in fact animates in synch with the player controlled character still standing).
Other times the player controlled Jill's body lays on the floor after the opposing Jill has fallen. They do a little vice versa each time. In single player mode nothing like this happens nor does it occur when there are two different shapes (such as the shader Jill and the shader SpaceOrc).
Anyway, perhaps this is solved already and I simply need to update my TSE build ... whatever the case it was very funny considering my previous take on the scene in the movie.

I've been having all kinds of things fall off in the last couple days: heads, arms, legs, you name it. It's _really_ fun to see a dts model completely explode all over the map with giant polygons everywhere. (Invalid joint descriptions.)
I must say it never happened before I started doing ragdoll physics though. :-)

I thought so. The game tester who was working on his game for 3 years in his spare time at home gets the game onto Xbox ;)

Same exact shots shown in the movie and everything. To be completely honest, I can't wait to play it :)

I got a kick out of that movie. You have to take it for what it is, tongue in cheek satire, but given that, it was a good time. The really great moment came when i was cruising around xbox.com and stumbled onto this:www.xbox.com/en-US/games/d/demonik/

Something about "if it's not fixed by next milestone it's going to nvidia to get fixed". Something like that. There is a thread on it in the TSE private forum I think.

What vid card are you using? There was a bug with the glow buffer on some of the 6000 series cards.Something about "if it's not fixed by next milestone it's going to nvidia to get fixed". Something like that. There is a thread on it in the TSE private forum I think.

The glitch was visible on both machines ... no matter who was hosting I believe.

This was a test between one machine use a GeForce 7800GT and one using a Radeon 9600XT.The glitch was visible on both machines ... no matter who was hosting I believe.
