Torque Boot Camp for Game Builder Announced!

by Stephen Zepp · 02/16/2006 (11:32 pm) · 14 comments

Rather short .plan, since all of the content is in a link: the first Torque Boot Camp for Game Builder is now available!

A couple of short notes:

--March 6-8 2006 (that's in 3 weeks!) in Eugene,Oregon
--one price for both commercial and indies: $199
--3 day class, taught by myself, Matt Langley, and a special guest instructor: Melv May! Yes, that's our very own Melv, who is travelling all the way from Europe to help us kick off the first TGB Boot Camp!

Follow the link, lots of cool pictures and even cooler information.

These things sound really cool, but unlike Melv, I can't fly all the way to the US for a boot camp (I think the wife would have something to say as well!).

Is there any chance it could be made available online? I'm not asking for a freebie, but videos, PDFs and so-on could be packaged up and sold on the site.

There are long term plans for this capability, yes! It won't be in the immediate future however.

Awesome... But yeah, got to agree with Philip Mansfield about traveling to the US. If it was online then it would rock, or how about having another one later this year, but this time in Europe?

Regarding the price, $199.. Almost sounds like a joke :) But in a good way, so much to go through over 3 days, so much material.. And a chance to shake hand with the man himself (Melv May).

Damndamndamndamndamn! There is no way that I can make it that soon! Nnnnnnooooooo!!!

But I'm sure much fun, enjoyment, and learning will be had by all.

I just wish I could be one of the "all".

Having gone to the boot camp for TGE after the 2005 Indie Games Con, I wish I could fly to that other coast and take this one. What about some way to make the course virtual? Regardless, I'm sure it'll be awesome.

So far so good! The material has been very helpful so far. I do not think there could have been a beter way to spend my $199. My day job did not like that I gave them 48 hours notice that I was taking a week of and driving down to Eugene, OR. Some time you just have to jump in and do something. I look forward to showcasing some simple games in the next few months. I have already been inspired to work on several projects once I am done with the boot camp. For anyone who has ever considered going to a boot camp, I have some advice to you. Just do it. You will never regret the desision. What you will learn and the people you will meet will change your life forever! - cheers -
