Torque Browser Plugin

by Neil Marshall · 02/16/2006 (8:18 am) · 12 comments

I've recieved permission from the company I work for to start a project on TDN so that I can get TGE turned into a browser plugin. I was hoping to put it online when I had something visible to show, but I ran into a snag with ActiveX and DirectX conflicting (As far as I can tell).

You can access the article & code in TDN here tdn.garagegames.com/wiki/TGE/Code/How_to_make_torque_a_plugin

If you know VS.net well enough to help me fix these compile errors, can you please check out the "Tutorial"? The plugins compile and work on their own when TGE is removed from the DLL. If you get it to compile then your browsers will look like this:

I have nothing useful to say... other then, having TAP accessible in ALL browsers would be freaking amazing.

I'd definately start deving something to work with it.

Torque Application Platform - TGE + TSE + TGB... If you can get T2D and/or TGE running in all the common browsers it would be freaking awesome.

TGB = Torque Game Builder. Its the new name for T2D, which better describes the nature of the dev environment.

hells yeah! I've been waiting for someone to tackle this: I looked into it a while ago but havent had the time (who does?). Macromedia and the other sad ass 3d web browser plugs need some competition.

Sorry I cant help, but THANK you very much for your effort Neil! and Good Luck!

Only IE supports activeX. That means no linux, mac or firefox users :(

FruitBatInShades, you'll notice that the first screenshot is FireFox and the second is IE. It works in both browser (well, when it works). No mac or Linux though as I don't have a mac and I don't have a functional Linux box.

Funny I was looking into making a search engine plugin for Garages for Firefox's search box.

I've integrated this with TGE 1.5 and updated the TDN page with the new version. I've left the 1.4 version there for people who haven't updated yet.
